Genealogy & Research

I’m an independent researcher and genealogist, with a particular interest in military history, London’s East End, women’s history, activism and migration. I have had the privilege of working with many private clients and on television series including ‘A House Through Time’ and ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’, researching anything from female agents of the Special Operations Executive, to the beginnings of the Jamaican banana trade, and the Irish Civil War.

There are so many sources and amazing archival records in the UK which can help us to bring the stories of our ancestors to life.

I offer an independent research and genealogy service beginning at £30 per hour.

Allow me to work closely with you, journey through time and unlock the unknown stories of your ancestors. Email me at katmace[at]me.com to arrange an initial chat about what you’d love to know, and how I might help you.

Why work with me:

I’ve always been deeply fascinated by the lives of ordinary people and in the factors at play beyond the paper trail. My own great great grandfather fled Latvia in the 1850s and settled in London’s East End. His daughters campaigned for suffrage and his son lived out his days in an asylum. The mysteries in my own family left me determined to find answers, and sparked a love of research that helps me to leave no stone unturned. I approach each family history with empathy and efficiency, undeterred by a challenge and excited by the possibilities.
